Melissa Shirley Monkey

Melissa Shirley Monkey w/Flowers

Border w/vintage beads

Close up of top border. Again w/vintage flower beads

I love this monkey and have wonderful plans for him.  Lots of beads and silk ribbon for the flowers.  Many of the stitches are from Sherry Bray of Queen Anne Stitches, a needlepoint store in Santa Clarita.  If you ever have a chance, stop by.  They're about 30 minutes from Los Angeles and have a great selection of threads and canvas' as well as great employees like Sherry!

The Sampler

Sampler Canvas by The Drawn Thread
The goal would be to get this done by the end of 2012.  It's the canvas I'm most interested in working on as it's mindless. Rows and rows of basketweave.  It measures about 24" x 24" and is currently resting on 27" Evertite Stretcher Bars.  The only way to work on it is while it's sitting peacefully in my floor stand.  Wish me luck!

The Photos are Up

This needlepoint is the first of three needlepoint I would love to complete in 2012.  I call this piece "For My Mom" because it is a tribute to her and her beautiful flowers.  The artist is Chris Roberts-Antineau.  I love her art work and if you'd like to see more of it you can visit her website, http://www.chrisroberts-antieau.com/.  I think (and I've been told I'm completely correct) that the woman in this piece looks just like me!  I'm the woman holding the flowers on which sits a pretty blue and yellow bird (my mom).

I started this piece w/such gusto!  I just knew it would be done in no time at all!  Unfortunately, I've run into a couple of flowers that have me stumped and I'm hoping this needlework community can help me out.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog.  I hope to get the photos of the other 2 pieces of needlepoint to be completed in 2012 up soon and, if any of you have any ideas for my flowers or anything else for that matter please let me know.

I would love to start a cross stitch sampler this year also.  We can debate later on if that will be completed in 2012!

Have a blessed day!  Anne

A start...

One step at a time.  Placed my mom's photo on the blog during my lunch hour.  She is my inspiration in all things needlepoint and day to day living. You'll all hear much more about her as the year progresses.

Although the holidays are a wonderful time, we're so busy at work.  Can't wait til they're over.

More to come.  Thanks for your patience!  Anne
